Residential Carpet Cleaning
J. Kent Whipple Services provides the best possible cleaning for the carpets within your home. We have found that the hot water extraction, commonly referred to as steam cleaning, is the best carpet cleaning system available for your home carpets. The carpet manufacturers also refer to this as a restorative cleaning and is required by the manufacturer to be done once a year in order to keep a carpets warranty valid.
Process
The process is broken down into three steps.
1. A pre-spray application is applied to the carpet. The pre-spray is a specially designed formula that breaks the bond between the dirt that is in your carpet and the carpet fibers, and suspends the dirt for an easier cleaning.
2. Agitation of the pre-spray into the carpet. This helps to get the pre-spray deeper into your carpet and loosen any dirt that is within your carpet fibers, so that it will release easier during the cleaning.
3. The cleaning is done with high pressure, high temperature water, with a neutralizing agent mixed with the water. The water solution is sprayed onto the carpet and then immediately vacuumed back out of the carpet along with the dirt that was in your carpet. At no time will your carpet look or feel like it has been flooded.
Commercial Carpet Cleaning
Commercial carpeting is in many ways similar to your residential cleaning in the process used. At least once each year, a thorough, restorative cleaning must be done to keep up with the traffic and other factors that make a carpet dirty. A maintenance plan is recommended every few months so that the carpets can last longer. This maintenance can be done with another process call encapsulation.
Encapsulation starts with a pre-spray formula sprayed onto the carpet, then a bonnet cleaning is used to agitate the encapsulation formula into the carpet. Once the carpet has dried, the carpet is vacuumed to remove the encapsulated dirty from the carpet.
Types of Carpet Cleaning
Hot Water Extraction
Considered a wet or restoration method, it involves applying
a soil-releasing agent to the carpet, followed by a dwell
time, and subsequent removal with a hot or cold water rinse.
It is well adapted to deep, thorough removal of soils from
a carpeted surface. This is the most common method recommended by the carpet manufacturing industry, and in many cases is required for keeping your carpets warranty valid. See Warranty Information in the Hot News section.
Encapsulation, Absorbent Pad, or Bonnet Method
All three types use a similar method in the actual cleaning process. The type of cleaning compound used determines the process.
This method uses a cleaning compound that is distributed on the surface
of the carpet, agitated allowed to dry, and then removed. This method works
well in high-traffic areas that preclude a lengthy shutdown for drying. This
is an appearance cleaning system.
Shampoo Cleaning Method
This is usually considered a wet cleaning method, using a rotary-type
brush to apply a high foaming detergent to the carpet nap to suspend soils
and release oils. The carpet can then be vacuumed with a wet pickup vacuum.
